I like what I've read in your recipes.. I would suggest changing your salt to Himalayan salts. Sea salts are no longer considered naturally safe because of polluted waters. Love your site.

Just made this today and it is delicious! I baked for 60 min in a metal pan and it started to burn a little so I'll cut down the baking time next time. But it is delicious!!

I am not able to have coconut flour (allergy). Do you know of what could be substituted in its place?
Thanks in advance! Looks so delicious!

Hi Catherine, Coconut flour is pretty much irreplaceable, because of its property to expand so much. You could try your favorite gluten free flour, and use less liquid/eggs, but it'd end up being a new recipe (which is fine!) I hope you're able to make it work & thanks for reading!

Can I use Truvia instead of honey?

Jenny
9/28/2015 07:59:39 pm

Hi Jean, I would rather you didn't because it is a refined food. I prefer whole-food sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, or dates.

To read more about Truvia, see the article here by Authority Nutrition: http://authoritynutrition.com/truvia-good-or-bad/

These is great and very healthy. I just want to ask, is there any other option aside from honey?

Hi Cristina, You could try maple syrup or date paste. Or, maybe some raw coconut sugar + more applesauce. Give it a whirl!

I'm currently making this for the third time (it's in the oven as we speak), and it's wonderful! Some alternatives I've tried,... I use vanilla bean powder or vanilla bean paste. I have never used the molasses (we don't have it in the house, but I'll put it on my list!) so I've improvised. The paste adds moisture and colour.

I line an 8x8 glass dish with parchment and bake for 60 or so minutes.

I occasionally make up a simple cream cheese frosting, diluting the cream cheese with whole fat coconut milk and a touch of maple syrup or coconut sugar for texture. The frosting isn't ideal, but it's a nifty little treat.

Love this recipe, would like more like it!

This was so easy to make and hit the spot. But just not appley enough. Next time I'll add some diced apple to the mix, or sliced apples on top. Thanks!

I love your idea of diced apples, Susie! A great whole-food addition! 😊
